rusty2

Rusty was one of a litter of 5 kittens that we fostered back in November of 2007. He was the baby of the bunch, such a tiny messy little fella, but he and his siblings did very well in our care. We were thrilled when Rusty was adopted close to Easter of 2008, and we truly thought Rusty had found a great home and family.

Unfortunately, he was returned to us in May of 2009.  His adoptive family developed allergies, and they did everything they could to try to solve the allergy problems without having to give Rusty up.  But at the end they felt they had no choice but return him to us.

It indeed took a while for him to make the adjustment away from the family that originally adopted him, but he has come around is very much a sweetheart of a cat. He loves attention, loves to be petted, and especially loves to have the underside of his chin scratched. He really grew up to a very handsome boy from his earlier kitten days, as evident by the photo above.

He is now available for adoption. We believe that Rusty is best suited for a home with adults and older children. He is also a little on the territorial side – in the year or so that he lived with the original family, he became very used to being the only cat and from all accounts, was very friendly with the small dog that shared the household with him. Since Rusty’s been with us, he doesn’t like sharing food with the other cats and he certainly lets the other cats know it. We would also recommend that Rusty be adopted into a home where he can be the only cat.
